West wins; advances to second playoff game

Wednesday night marked the first playoff game for the West High Trojans, who went into the postseason with a 9-0 record, a feat not achieved in 13 years. The Trojans played against the West Waterloo Warhawks, and after an exciting game, kept West High on the path to a state title. The Trojans maintained the lead throught the game, holding a 7-0 point margin into the second quarter. With the conclusion of the half, West High extended their lead 14-0. The game picked up in the second after a Warhawk touchdown garnered a 27-6 spread. Fourth quarter was effectively dominated by the Trojans, as they bumped the score up to 41-13, assuring the win.
