West to host Works in Progress show

by Pombie Silverman

The Iowa City Community School District’s high school vocal departments will be hosting the annual Works in Progress show on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012.  This year’s program will be at the West High Auditorium (2901 Melrose Avenue, Iowa City) starting at 7:30 p.m. and will feature all four show choirs from City High and West High.

Participating choirs from West High include The Good Time Company, which is the premier show choir under the direction of Mr. Ryan Person.  West’s Showtime is the prep show choir and is directed by Mr. David Haas.

4th Avenue Jazz Company will perform as City High’s premier show choir under the direction of Greg Grove.  Rounding out the evening entertainment will be City Lights the prep group for City High under the direction of James Thompson.

This will be the inaugural appearance for all show choirs and provides a preview of the shows prior to competition season which begins in January of 2013.  Admission is $5 for all attendees.  Please note that the school district family music passes are not accepted at this event.  Proceeds will benefit Iowa City vocal programs.  For more information, contact Peggy Hausler at peggyehausler@gmail.com.
