Track teams qualify for state meet

Track+teams+qualify+for+state+meet

Members of the boys and girls track team qualified for the state meet which will be held this Thursday through Saturday (May 21-23) at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Individual qualifiers for the boys team are Wali Parks ’16 in the 200 meter dash, Nate Jelinek ’17 in the 400 meter dash, Ian McGillicuddy ’15 in the 800 meter run and Akash Borde ’15 and Ali Ali ’17 in the 3200 meter run. Relays that qualified for the boys team are the 4×100 meter, 4×200 meter, 4×800 meter, distance medley and shuttle hurdle relay. On the girls side, individual qualifiers are Emilee Benedict ’15 in the 400 meter dash, Bailey Nock ’18 and Tia Saunders ’16 in the 800 meter run, Bailey Nock ’18 in the 1500 meter run, Gabby Skopec ’17 in the 3000 meter run, Valerie Welch ’17 and Grace Young ’17 in the 100 meter hurdles, Valerie Welch ’17 in the 400 meter hurdles, Kia Noibi ’18 in the long jump, Chandler Haight ’18 and Zainab Makky ‘16 in the shot put and Leah Dusterhoft ’17 and Zainab Makky ’16 in the discus. Relays that qualified for the girls team are the 4×400, 4×800, distance medley and shuttle hurdle.
