Chalk the Walk Mount Vernon 2018

The artists at Chalk the Walk 2018 are expected to use more than a half ton of chalk to decorate downtown Mount Vernon.

People of all ages gather to beautify the streets, appreciate art and spend the day in the sun.

Open to anyone, Chalk the Walk gives an opportunity to artists to share their passion. This drawing was done by West Highs own Julia Fink 20.

For ten dollars, any visitor could chalk a square of the collaborative piece, an image originally by Robert Rodriguez, to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

1. Grammarly. There’s a reason this grammar and spelling checker has an average rating of 4.5 stars and a place in the Editor’s Picks section for extensions on the Chrome webstore. It detects when you misspell something and when you’ve used a correctly-spelled word in the wrong context, as well as many grammar errors. If you want to go beyond the basic free version, Grammarly also offers a premium version that will check for other types of errors, as well as deliver suggestions for style, citations and vocabulary choices.

4. Adblock Plus. Ads are omnipresent and ever-annoying. To block them and render your web-browsing faster and more enjoyable, download Adblock Plus! The extension automatically blocks ads it considers ‘inappropriate’ (although its criteria for ‘inappropriate’ ads doesn’t necessarily line up with ours), and if you go into the settings, you can get it to block all ads, still for free.

3. Forest. Combat the temptation to check social media every few minutes with Forest, a productivity extension. It allows you to plant a virtual tree every time you stay focused on a task and holds you responsible for keeping the tree alive for the next thirty minutes by staying off sites on your Blacklist. If you don’t, the tree dies. Keeping the trees alive will give you a sense of achievement and responsibility that will motivate you to finish that math homework faster. In addition to this extension, Forest offers an app for your phone, so that your phone doesn’t distract you either.

5. Todoist. If you only want a to-do list and not all the other features of Momentum, download Todoist. By clicking on the little Todoist icon in the extensions bar, you can access your to-do list on any webpage, as well as modify it. It’ll help you keep track of all the little tasks you need to finish in a day.

2. Momentum. Momentum combines multiple features to allow it to be an all-around useful and inspiring extension. It replaces your “new tab page” with a personal dashboard that tells you ‘hello’ with your name, where you can view a daily photo and quote (always beautiful and motivational), the weather, your daily focus and a to-do list.
