NSPA names a record-breaking number of WSS staffers as finalists in national contest

National Scholastic Press Association announced finalists for its 2020 individual contests, with each contest category including up to 10 finalists nationwide. Winners will be announced at NSPA/JEA’s national convention Nov. 19-21. The West Side Story students recognized include:

Digital Story of the Year — Multimedia Feature: Bess Frerichs ’21 for Emmie Boylan: Living with spina bifida
Digital Story of the Year — Multimedia Sports: Joe Goodman ’20 and Natalie Katz ’20 for Beneath the jersey: The 20-year history of sports uniforms at West
Digital Story of the Year — Blog: Sumner Wallace ’20 for Sincerely, Sumner: Crying is cool
Social Justice Reporting of the Year: Alice Meng ’21 and Jenna Wang ’20 for Disconnected
