“Fine Line” album: January

Released in December of 2019, the album “Fine Line” by Harry Styles was immensely popular during early 2020. The album has been nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards. The songs “Watermelon Sugar” and “Adore You” were nominated for in the categories Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video respectively.

 

Billie Eilish: January-February

With songs like “Bad Guy” and “My Future,” Billie Eilish has received numerous nominations and awards in recent years. In winning Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist at the 2020 Grammys, she became the youngest person to win the four main Grammy categories. She is also the youngest person to write and perform the title track for a “James Bond” film with the song “No Time to Die.”

 

Taylor Swift: July

For the American Music Awards 2020, Taylor Swift was crowned both Artist of the Year and the people’s Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock. Taylor Swift’s “cardigan” was also the winner of the people’s favorite music video of the year. During the year, she also released two surprise albums, “Folklore” in July and “Evermore” in December.

 

BTS’ fame grew even larger in 2020.

BTS: November-December

Also known as the Bangtan Boys, BTS has released many new songs and albums in 2020. Some of their albums include “Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~” and “BE.” The songs “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On’ had both been number one hot 100 debuts on Billboard as well, being the first group to have multiple songs in that category.

 


Spotify: All year

Spotify recently released their “2020 Wrapped – Year in Review.” This concluded that the most played song was “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd and the most streamed artist was Bad Bunny for this year.
