Ava Graf ’23 shows off her four dot tattoo that symbolizes her family.

Ava Graf ’23

Ava Graf ’23 has four tattoos with many different stories. One reads, “Everything happens for a reason” on her spine. “It’s a saying that I’ve used through all the good and hard times in my life,” Graf said. Graf also has one matching her sister and one with her entire family. “I was super grateful to be with people I loved during both my experiences,” Graf said. Although it may sting, “I’ll always cherish those moments of doing something so meaningful.” Graf said.

“I believe the stigma mostly depends on the generation,” said Graf.  Graf, like many others, agrees that when you are younger, there is less stigma around tattoos.  “But I think with the gaining popularity of them is coming with less of a stigma and more of an acceptance and even admiration. Tattoos now, at least to my generation, have different meaning than in the past,” Graf said.
