Fashion Friday: Sidney Kout

An inside look on the fashion sense of sophomore Sidney Kout.

September 23, 2016

West Side Story: What motivates you to get up and ready in the morning?

Sidney Kout: I pick my outfits out every morning the morning before so I wake up and it’s right there, ready for me.

WSS: Are there ever days you just want to wear sweatpants, how do you stop yourself from doing so?

SK: I actually just bought my first pair of sweatpants, I didn’t own any before then. But no, I would never wear sweatpants to school, just no.

WSS: Who inspires your fashion sense?

Sidney Kout: My mom and my sister, they’re both very fashionable so we share our closets.

WSS: Would you like to do something in the fashion industry when you grow up?

SK: I think that would be cool, but I don’t see myself working with fashion and I don’t necessarily like all the fashion statements that are out there right now, so probably not.

WSS: Where are your favorite places to shop?

SK: I really like Madewell and Nordstrom, a lot of the stores are not in Iowa unfortunately. I shop online alot and get a bunch of clothing from my cousins and family in Dallas who know where to shop.

WSS: How would you describe your style?

SK: I would say it’s classy but comfy; I won’t wear something if I’m not comfortable in it. I think jeans are comfortable, I love jeans.

WSS: What is your favorite kind of clothing; like shirts, short, accessories, shoes, etc?

SK: I like cold weather clothing, with jeans and pants and sweaters. I do not like shorts. I hate wearing shorts.

WSS: What made you initially interested in fashion and when?

SK: I think I’ve always been fashionable, I guess my mom always put me in fashionable clothing when I was a child. She goes to work everyday in a cute outfit. I do think my fashion sense got a lot better when I went into Junior High, though.

WSS: What is your go to outfit?

SK: Jeans for sure with some grey booties and an oversized sweater.

WSS: What’s your favorite season to dress for?

SK: My favorite season is fall. You don’t have to wear a big jacket like in winter, and you aren’t hot all the time in summer.

WSS: Has your style changed at all over the years?

SK: Yes, I get a lot of my outfits from pinterest, so I think it changes every year and every season. It gets better each season, it definitely gets better each year.
