The student news source of Iowa City West High

“This painting is one of a series of mushroom paintings. I love mushrooms and in this series of paintings I used gold paint for the spores and gills of the mushrooms. The gills of a mushroom hold spores and drop them when the cap opens up and those spores grow into more mushrooms if they land on something that provides them the materials they need to grow. It is a big part of the mushroom cycle of reproduction. I think it’s super cool and the spores deserve to be highlighted and it looks cool.”
