After a strong 9-0 win against Prairie April 17, the girls tennis team traveled to Dubuque ready to continue competing April 19.
For their first match of the double header, the Trojans traveled to Dubuque Senior. Starting their matches at 9 a.m., the teams competed for almost three hours, winning all nine matches for a clean sweep of the meet.
In singles, each athlete stepped up due to the absence of Sasha Postnikov ’25 and Claire Hahn ’25. The middle of the lineup, starting with Grace Wang ’27 at 3 Singles, finished their matches quickly. Audrey Crawford ’26 clinched the meet with her win at 6 Singles, followed shortly by Iris Vasi ’28 winning a close match 6-4, 6-4 at 1 Singles.
Team absences altered the usual doubles lineup, but the Trojans continued to show their strength in doubles despite. At 1 Doubles, Sophie Singh ’27 and Iris Vasi ’28 won their match 6-1, 6-1, followed by wins at 2 and 3 Doubles, resulting in a 9-0 meet win.

After a strong showing at Dubuque Senior, West traveled to Western Dubuque to finish the day.
Stier made quick work of singles, finishing her 6-1, 6-1 match in less than 45 minutes. The rest of the team followed suit, with quick wins by Crawford, Singh and Wang. Soon after, Vasi won her match as Momo Shinozaki ’27 won her first varsity lineup match in a third set tiebreak 10-7.
As the fourth match of the day for most athletes on both teams, the head coaches decided to play an 8-game pro set for doubles in place of the standard two 6-game sets. The team of Vasi/Wang showed their chemistry on court, winning their 1 Doubles match 8-1. At 3 Doubles, the sister duo of Gianna Liu ’25 and Gracie Liu ’27 competed in their first varsity match, winning 8-6 and securing the final win for the meet.

West will return to the courts on April 22 to take on Cedar Falls at the UNI Tennis Complex and host cross-town rival Liberty at 4 p.m. on April 24.
