Coming off a strong showing last week with 27-0 match record, West girls tennis competed against Cedar Falls, who also went into the meet after a 5-4 win against Linn-Mar April 21. After an hour and a half van ride to Cedar Falls, the teams competed for almost three hours, resulting in a 7-2 win for West.
In singles, Iris Vasi ’28 and Elsie Gross ’27 made quick work of their matches, winning 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively. Soon after, Sasha Postnikov ’25 and Marie Stier ’25 won their matches. After a series of long points, Sophie Singh ’27 ultimately fell to her opponent at 3 Singles. Grace Wang ’27, who was still playing her first set while other matches were finished, controlled the second set, winning her match 7-5, 6-0 and clinching the meet for West.
Having already won the meet, West didn’t let up their streak in doubles. At 1 Doubles, Postnikov and Stier quickly won their match 6-0, 6-1, followed by Vasi and Wang securing a 6-0, 6-4 win at 2 Doubles. In a second-set tiebreak, Gross and Claire Hahn ’25 battled for the win, but fell short to their opponents 5-7.
