The math team from West High won the 17th annual Mount Mercy University Mathematics competition on October 16th. The students representing West High dominated across the board, winning the top three team placements and the individual awards for each grade level. This is the math team’s seventeenth consecutive win, meaning the math team is the only winner of the competition since its creation.
The West High team that placed first consisted of Amy Xiong ’15, Kai Trepka ’16, Casey McClenathan ’17 and Junhee Lee ’18. The second place team had Harry Manaligod ’15, Nadav Kohen ’16, Eugenia Chen ’17 and Jeongwoo Seo ’18. The third place team had Schuyler Cantrell ’15, Pranav Krishnamurthy ’18, Max Hill ’17 and Kevin Liu ’18.
The students that won the top individual award for each grade level are Seo for ninth grade, McClenathan for tenth grade, Trepka for eleventh grade, and Manaligod for twelfth grade.
The next math competition will be at Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, November 1st.
