February 7, 2016
It was a busy two days for the West High basketball teams. On Friday night, the girls tipped off at home against Cedar Rapids Jefferson while the boys traveled to Cedar Rapids where they also played the J-Hawks.
At home, the girls took the lead early, leading 25-18 after the first quarter. They never gave the lead up, and although the game got down to a slim six points with only a few minutes left, the girls were able to come away with the 65-56 victory. Maddie Huinker ‘17 led the Women of Troy with 22 points, all of which came in the first half.

The boys were back at it on Saturday with a 5:30 tip-off against Cedar Rapids Xavier. The game had previously been planned for Tuesday but was postponed due to weather. They got off to a quick start, holding Xavier to only 6 points in the first quarter. Xavier roared back however, and the score at the half was 27-19. The Trojans finished strong as they came away with a 72-55 victory over the Saints. Connor McCaffery ‘17 lead West with 19 points.
