Boys track and field team competes at Hollingsworth Relays

The boys track and field team competed at their home meet, the Hollingsworth Relays, on Saturday. Despite the chilly conditions that have led to cancelled meets so far this outdoor season, the meet went on as scheduled, except for the removal of several exhibition races. The team finished in fifth place out of the twelve teams who attended, they totaled 73 points, Cedar Falls finished in first with 126.5. The best event of the day for the team was the 1600 meter run, where Ali Ali ‘17 and Patrick Karanja ‘16 finished first and second. The team also did well in the relay events, racking up 3 fourth place finishes and 2 third place finishes, they scored in five out of the six relay events.

400 meter dash- Willie Dean 3rd, 51.61.
110 meter hurdles- Max Hill 5th, 15.78.
1600 meter run- Patrick Karanja 2nd, 4:27.99, Ali Ali 1st, 4:26.78.
400 meter hurdles- Hill 4th, 57.35.
Discus- Jonathan Gannon 3rd, 134-06.
High Jump- West 4th place, 5-08-00.
Long Jump- Tremaine Hoover 6th, 20-02.50.
Shot Put- Alex Kleinow 5th, 49-01.50.
4×200 meter relay- Matthew Huff, Parks, Chris Low, West, 3rd, 1:31.83.
4×400 meter relay- West, Nate Jelinek, Parks, Dean, 3rd, 3:28.77.
