Melrose Ave. to close for one week due to construction
April 12, 2016
Beginning Wednesday, April 13, all westbound traffic on Melrose Ave. will be detoured due to a lane closure. The closure will not affect any of the West High entrances, only westbound traffic on Melrose Ave. According to a public notice published by University Heights, Melrose Ave. will be closed between Sunset St. and Birkdale Ct. to work on widening the roadway and begin pavement repair work. There will be no detour for eastbound traffic on Melrose.
“This is the first stage of work for a project that will widen Melrose [Ave.] in this location to construct a left-turn lane, rebuild and realign the north leg of the Melrose [Ave.] and Sunset [St.] intersection, and replace the existing traffic signals at the intersection,” said the notice.
The closure and detour are estimated to last one week.
