What it means to be a man
Former NFL player, author, activist and coach, Joe Ehrmann dives into the role masculinity has played on men and woman nationwide.
The University of Iowa Lecture Committee brought sports fans, coaches and students athletes together on Sept. 28, 2016, for a man that has become a mentor across America. Located at the Englert Theater in Downtown Iowa City, Joe Ehrmann spoke of the pressures put on boys reaching manhood and how it impacts them for the rest of their lives. Raising social problems like bullying and father abandonment, Ehrmann explained that masculinity is a definition more comprehensive than the infamous, “be a man.” It’s a definition that each individual must develop for themselves and use to become the person they want to be.
