West’s backfield fires on all cylinders in a 63-14 win over Ottumwa.

Last Friday, Oct. 21, the West High seniors took the field in the final regular season game of their high school careers. Devontae Lane ’17 was explosive in the first half, scoring four rushing touchdowns with a pick-six early in the second quarter and an additional interception in the second half. Quarterback Evan Flitz ’18 also performed well, with two touchdown completions exceeding 35 yards. West had a commanding win, beating Ottumwa 63-14. With the win, and district champions Cedar Rapids Prairie defeat of CR Kennedy, West (7-2) advances into the playoffs, facing Bettendorf (7-2) at Bettendorf on Friday, Oct. 28 in their first postseason game.
