With regionals fast approaching, the girls and boys tennis teams are having competitive seasons.

Boys tennis coach Mitch Gross is “really pleased with where [the team is] at this point in the season. “Everyone’s really stepped up,” he said. “This will be a very important week and we’ll be playing some of our best competition.”

The boys team defeated Linn-Mar, the number three team, on Tuesday by a score of 8-1. They’ll be playing the number two team, Cedar Rapids Washington, this Saturday, April 29th. “If we can get through that one with a win, I really like our chances as we wind down to the end of the season,” Gross said.

Emma Koch ’19, number one for the girls tennis team, has had a lot of fun so far this season. “I think we’re a really strong team.” Because the team had no seniors last year, they had a significant advantage against other teams in their division. “Everyone worked hard in the off-season and it’s definitely showing now,” Koch concluded.
