West High graduate accepting donations for wildfire relief
West High graduate Kara Wagenknecht ’19 and her family are accepting clothing donations to help with wildfire relief.
In an email sent out to the West High community on Jan. 3, students and families were informed Kara Wagenknecht ’19, a West High graduate and current student at the University of Colorado, has offered to take clothing and shoes to those affected by the wildfires.
As wildfires swept across cities near Boulder, Colorado, families had little time to grab their belongings and evacuate in up to 105 MPH winds with dry conditions. Over 30,000 residents were evacuated as the fires destroyed an estimated 1000 homes.
“Thank you for being an amazing community for people nearby, and those farther away,” Brooke Overholt said via email. “West High really is the BEST high!”
Gently used items of all sizes are welcome, including winter gear due to the approximate 10 inches of snow that hit the morning after. Donations will be accepted in the Main Office through Thursday, Jan. 6 at 4:30 pm.
Your donation will support the student journalists of West High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase Scholarship Yearbooks, newsroom equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.
