Good Time Company and Showtime show choirs performed this Saturday, Jan. 18, at Muscatine High School for the River City Showcase competition. Showtime showcased this year’s “On the Run” show, and sang songs such as “Into the Cataclysmic” and “Caught in the Storm.” GTC performed their show, “Volume 48,” hitting the stage with numbers “Want Me Back,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot/Fighter” and more.

Show band member and trombonist Emre Orhon ’25, said that “[The performance] was fun, I dented my slide and wanted to cry, but [the performance] was fun.”

Showtime placed third in the Women’s Division and GTC placed fourth in the daytime preliminary round, ultimately finishing fifth runner-up in finals behind Ankeny’s Visual Adrenaline first place finish, sweeping the Best Vocals, Best Choreography and Best Band awards.

“Show choir is such a fun experience, especially because of our supportive team. Hearing our name make it to finals was exciting for all of us, and I enjoyed participating in my first finals performance,” said GTC member Rana Saba ‘25.
