Students enrolled in AP US History and AP World History traveled downtown to watch A Walk in the Woods, a play written by Lee Blessing in 1987 about the Cold War. Riverside Theatre staged the show in the round, with the audience sitting on all four sides of the show.

West students share their thoughts on the show:

“It felt like I was inside the play watching,” Moustafa Tiea ’25 said.

“It was very interesting,” Annie Dickens ’25 said. “It was a cool lens to understand history.”

“It educated me on different perspectives of government,” Rachel Schafbuch ’25 said.

“I loved it because the actors were so good and the lighting was good and I liked the trees,” Tina Hong ’25 said.

The Riverside Theatre is a local non-profit professional theatre founded in 1981. The theatre brings six engaging productions each year to the community. If you are interested in attending a show at Riverside Theatre, it is located on 119 E College St., on the Ped Mall in downtown Iowa City.
