What do you carry in your bag? Is it anything important, surprising, or just plain weird? What’s something you always need to keep with you? Do you carry an interesting you think makes you unique? I asked a few West High students similar questions, here’s some of the colorful personalities I came across.
Aliya Parks ’26 – “The Maximalist”
From baby lotion to child-sized scissors, the sheer amount of things filling Parks’ purse could make anyone overwhelmed. However, each item seems to have its distinct purpose and practical use, leaving “How did she fit all that in her purse?” as the only unanswered question.
Sal Jolly ’27 – “The Artist”
The contents of this bag made for a surprisingly cohesive picture with a pleasing cool-toned color palette. Showcasing drawings, a cute bookmark, and some questionable stickers, this bag spread portrayed a true creative spirit.
Fern Fraer ’26 – “The Well Prepared”
Fraer’s backpack consists of multiple notebooks, folders, and a lot of decorative stickers. With the addition of a drink, snack, and an unexpected tape measure, they’re ready for anything that gets thrown their way.
So, what’s in your bag? From loose change to unfinished math homework, what students choose to carry with them every day gives a little bit of insight into their personality, how organized they are, or their hobbies and interests. From only the confines of your school bag, what makes you, you?
