On March 28, West’s Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will host their annual Chamber Ensemble concert. Unlike the usual band concert, the concert will consist of each percussion, woodwind, and brass section performing their own section-specific piece(s) of music rather than performing as a collective ensemble.
The Chamber Ensemble concert will consist of the following setlist for each of the bands:
- West’s Wind Ensemble brass section will perform “Jubilee” by Clair Johnson, “Marche Vaillant” by Paul Koepke and “Promenade” by Modest Mussorgsky, arranged by Jim Scheur.
- West’s Wind Ensemble percussion section will perform “The Highway” by Daniel Montoya Jr.
- West’s Wind Ensemble woodwind section will perform “IL Re Pastore” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, arranged by Nilo Hovey.
- West’s Symphonic Band brass section will perform “Prelude, Ballad and Celebration” by Naoya Wada.
- West’s Symphonic Band woodwind section will perform “Folksongs from Somerset” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, arranged by David Gardner.
- West’s Symphonic Band percussion section will perform “Starfall” by James Vilseck.
Brian Zeglis and Ryan Middleton will conduct the Chamber Ensemble concert on Thursday at 7 p.m. You can catch West High’s next band concert on May 19 for their Ninth Grade Band, Varsity Band and Jazz Lab Concert.
