On Nov. 13, the second annual WINGS vs Cross Country game took place. The eight-time state champions beat West’s cross country team and took home the Golden Frisbee in a 5-3 fashion, making it the second win for WINGS in a row. The game started off close, with two goals from Seth Wilde ’26 for WINGS and one goal each from Jack Eastvold ’26 and Lars Pressler ’27. However, WINGS ended the game in convincing fashion, with Kobi Knott ’26 and Anthony Medina ‘25 scoring one and two goals each, respectively. Cross country runner Asif Ali ’26 scored the last goal of the game for the cross country team.
Waylon Houchins-Witt ’25, one of the leaders of the WINGS team, said, “WINGS over cross country,” when asked for comment. In response to Houchins-Witt’s comment, cross country runner Casandro Chan ‘25 said, “Next year cross country over WINGS.”
Look out for WINGS in the spring during the state championship, which will likely be the next time they play. If you want to learn more about WINGS or join the team, contact Houchins-Witt at [email protected] or Sam Abdel Malek ’25 at [email protected].
