The second episode of “Spilling secrets with Sophie” features West High athletes Ava Bruxvoort ’25 and Jack Wallace ’25. Bruxvoort and Wallace answer in-depth questions about how they balance the multitude of activities in their lives, future plans along with fun speed-round style questions as well.
“I’m getting my CNA [Certified Nursing Assistant] right now, and over the course of the class I find it’s something I enjoy. I’ve always kind of known I’ve wanted to go the healthcare route,” Bruxvoort said.
At the time of filming, Bruxvoort isn’t sure where she wants to go, but she’s certain about going into nursing. Her top choices currently are the University of Minnesota, Loyola University Chicago, the University of Missouri and the University of Tennessee. She also knew that she had to enjoy what’s left of her time with her teammates, “The girls are so great and it’s so fun, it’s honestly what made me go out [for basketball] again this year.”
Wallace is committed to playing football for St. Thomas University in Minnesota next year, where he felt the best connection with the coaches. When asked why he decided to stick with basketball even though he’s already committed to play football, Wallace said, “Senior year [I] just wanted to play one last time and have fun with it.”
Since the hot wings left us in tears and scrambling for water long after filming ended, we decided to ditch them this episode. Instead, there’s a featured viewer question from someone who appreciates the work both athletes have done.
