Elections for the 2025-2026 West Student Government President and Vice President will be held today. During AFT, students will receive an email to access the ballot. Seniors are not allowed to vote.
Only current juniors can run for president, along with a sophomore running mate.
This year’s pairs are Mayar Aliwasi ’26 and Tahlil Taha ’27; Finnley Bonfig ’26 and Ella Haim ’27; Grace Fincham ’26 and Taleen Rahhal ’27; Waleed Ibrahim ’26 and Eyad El-Fadil ’27; and Khamissa Tiea ’26 and Neil James ’27.
The Student Government President and Vice President’s responsibilities include planning and running Student Government meetings, organizing with committee leaders and teacher sponsors, leading plans for homecoming and planning events like winter dances, spirit weeks or spring events.
To determine who to vote for, students can watch the candidates’ submitted campaign videos, which teachers are encouraged to show during AFT. Students can also watch a debate hosted by WSS between three of the five presidential candidates.
At 8:00 a.m., students received an email links to the ballot as well as the candidates’ campaign videos. Voting will close today at 4:00 p.m. Aside from seniors, all students are allowed to and encouraged to vote.
