On Feb. 10, the West High boys basketball team hosted its annual matchup against Cedar Rapids Kennedy. The Trojans fell to the Cougars 66-57. Coming into the game, both teams were evenly matched with a record of 10-7, with the Trojans winning 60% of previous games. After the first quarter, the Trojans started strong, leading 12-9. The score continued to stay close until Kennedy pulled ahead at the end, scoring 22 points in the fourth quarter.
Despite the loss, senior Ethan Headings had a dominant game, scoring 19 points, with seven rebounds and four assists. Henry Elser ’26 and Jack Jensen-Fitzpatrick ’26 weren’t far behind, both scoring 11 and nine, respectively.
The Trojans will compete next Feb. 13 on the road against Xavier. They will be finishing the regular season with their senior night against Cedar Rapids Jefferson Feb. 17, as well as an away game at Dubuque Hempstead Feb. 19.
