Coming back from their second set loss, West won the first point and continued to fight a back-and-forth battle with the Jaguars. After a kill from Cyan Blommer ’29, who scored 11 total kills throughout the game, the teams tied 7-7. However, Ankeny started to pull ahead to 9-7, when West called their first time out of the set. Afterward, the Trojans fought to tie again at 10-10 and kept pushing to 14-13, forcing Centennial to call a time out. The teams were evenly matched, and tied again at 16-16 and 18-18, when Ankeny called their last time out.
West didn’t lose their momentum; with a kill from Sophia Austen ’27-who led the team with 16 total kills-they pulled ahead to 23-21. However, that’s when their run ended: The Jaguars scored four points in succession to win the set 25-23, winning the game 3-0. With the loss, the Trojans ended their 2025 season as state quarterfinalists.
