GO bond passage affirms air-conditioning for West

The Iowa City School District’s (ICCSD) largest bond was passed Tues., Sept. 12 to fund renovations in district schools.

The $192 million school bond was passed Tues., Sept. 12. The bond’s blueprints include renovations for ICCSD buildings; with the objective to enhance student’s learning environments as well as preserve historic structures.

For West High, renovation plans affirmed by the passage include electrical and plumbing upgrades, new windows and a school-wide heating and cooling system. Projects currently underway with separately secured funding include: a new gym, cardio room, set of tennis courts and renovations for the kitchen, cafeteria and loading dock.
