Everyone’s hard work has finally paid off: the seniors have made it to their final choir concert. On Wednesday, May 2nd the West High choirs had their final concert of the year. This concert was full of glow sticks, roses, tears and goodbyes. The seniors received roses as a gift from Mr. Person. They also all said goodbye to Ms. Knapp, who will be retiring from West High and moving to Minneapolis to conduct a woman’s adult choir next year. The seniors said goodbye to her by singing The Road Home by Stephen Paulus. Mr. Person then gave out a very prominant award, The National School Choral Award, to two seniors. The seniors that were honored to recieve this award were Bryn Hedlund and Josh Fortman. To recieve this award they have to fulfill certain requirements such as ability, and achievement, of outstanding contributions to the success of the school vocal program and of unusual degree of loyalty, cooperation and high qualities of conduct, by general consent of music faculty, school officials, and others. For Mr. Person its always hard picking the two right seniors to recieve this award. “I select based on criteria and excellence through performance throughtout their four years.” said Mr. Person. So throw your hats off to the seniors and wish them luck in their next endeavors as they finish their adventures in the concert choir at West High.
