Last Saturday, members of the West High Math Club headed to Regina Catholic High School to participate in the first of a series of math competitions that lead to a national contest. Mathleague makes these contests, the contest held this past weekend was at the regional level, from which high-scoring individuals can advance to the state level, then qualify for the national contest held in May. West took first place in the team round and overall in the sweepstakes, qualifying all team members who competed to the next level of state. Additionally, the top three individual awards were all won by West students: from first to third, Catherine Xu ’26, Caleb Benson ’24, and Athena Wu ’24.

Look forward to both future competitions and the state championship in spring.

Kyros Wu ’28 – First Junior High

Catherine Xu ’26 – First 9th Grade

Caleb Benson ’24 – First 11th Grade

Athena Wu ’24 – Second 11th Grade
