The weather was perfect for a jazz concert at the ped mall on Friday, May 19. A slight, cool breeze blew through the mall as jazz bands from Liberty, City and West High Schools played their way through their sets for the Friday Night Concert Series. A yearly tradition, this performance is a great way to end the school year and say goodbye to the seniors in jazz band. This year, however, West High would also be saying goodbye to Rob Medd, concert and jazz band director for 30 years.

When the West High Symphonic Jazz Band began their performance a little after 8:30 p.m., the sun was setting, and a crowd had gathered in lawn chairs and on the ground. The audience erupted in cheers of thanks and praise when Medd completed his last jazz band performance as a high school band director. Next, the Jazz Ensemble took the stage and played four tunes, ending the concert around nine p.m. West High seniors that were recognized on Friday night are as follows.
