The time has come for Theatre West to present its annual spring musical, this year’s being “The Secret Garden.” Based on the 1911 children’s novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, the story follows a young Mary moving to England after suddenly losing her parents to a terrible outbreak of cholera back in India. Sent to Yorkshire, England, to live with her widowed uncle, who still mourns his late wife, Mary soon discovers that the dreary countryside mansion she now calls home may hold more secrets than it appears. Underneath all of the vines and shrubbery that overrun the place, there is a mystery to be unfolded. And it all starts with a garden.
Theatre West will be holding teasers on Thursday, April 11, to promote the show, excusing students from third period to come and watch the preview in the auditorium. The first official showing of the musical will take place on the same day at 7 p.m., followed by showings on Friday, April 12, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Tickets can be bought on Theatre West’s website.
