On Monday, the boy’s golf team traveled to Dubuque for the Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) quad meet. The meet consisted of four schools: Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Dubuque Hempstead, Cedar Falls and West High.
The team placed second overall with a total score of 165, behind Cedar Falls who scored 158. This was assisted by Emery Crawford ’25 and Jack MacLagan ’26, tying for second place individually, shooting a 39.
Crawford has led the team this season posting a 37 shot nine hole average and a 79.29 shot 18 hole average. MacLagan has been a standout, with a 41 shot nine hole average and a 79.71 shot 18 hole average. When reflecting on how the season has been going and his personal achievements, MacLagan is satisfied.
“I feel like our success has been better this year than previous years, with more consistently low scores and better team chemistry, on and off the field. For me, I’ve done some really good and some really bad and its about putting bad scores behind me and staying relaxed to help the team in these last important meets,” MacLagan said.
The boys will continue their season next week with meets on Sept. 30 at the Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Rapids and Oct. 3 with a local meet at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City.
