The Trojan football team, joined by the twirlers, dance squad, band, cheerleaders and both the boys and girls cross country teams, celebrated senior night on Oct. 18 with a season-capping victory over Pleasant Valley. This win not only ended the home season on a high note but also marked an achievement for the program: their 100th all-time win. With fans cheering and fireworks lighting up the night sky, the Trojans delivered a performance that will be remembered for years.
Just two minutes into the game, Jack Wallace ’25 connected with Ethan Headings ’26 on a 20-yard wide receiver screen, putting the Trojans up 7-0. This early score gave the team momentum that lasted throughout the game.
With 30 seconds left before halftime, Wallace found Julian Manson ’26 for another touchdown, extending the Trojans’ lead to 28-7.
Shortly after halftime, Mason Woods ’25 added an 80-yard touchdown run, pushing the Trojans further ahead to 35-7 and giving them full control of the game.
Wallace finished with two touchdown passes to Manson and Headings, sealing a 49-35 victory. Not only did this win mark the Trojan football program’s 100th all-time victory, but West, ranked 14th, also took down third-ranked Pleasant Valley, improving their record to 5-3.
The Trojans will play their final regular season game on Oct. 25 against Cedar Rapids Prairie; Wallace predicts they will have a strong chance of securing a spot in the playoffs.
“I think we will build off of this win and continue to work even harder in these next coming weeks to make a run into the postseason and try to get to the Dome,” he said.
