Students Against School Shootings (SASS) will hold a letter-writing event on Thursday, Feb. 14, the anniversary of the Parkland shooting. Both West and City High will hold their own event on the same date.

The event will be held in room 237 immediately after school ends. Students who attend will be writing Valentine’s Day cards to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school students or they can write letters to their representatives to thank them for recent gun reform and to urge for them to continue making progress.

Olivia Barker ‘20 is one of the West organizers for Thursday’s event. She said SASS is hosting the Valentine’s Day event to show support for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas students and to show that they are fighting for gun reform.

“It’s really important that the survivors of the tragedy know that they have support from all the way across the country,” Barker said.
