Each year all four of West High’s choirs (Treble Choir, Women’s Chorale, Bass Choir, and Concert Choir) present their Masterworks Concert. The concert, lasting about thirty minutes in length, consists of selections of a predetermined piece. This year they performed Mass No. 11 in D Minor “Nelson Mass” a challenging piece, yet nonetheless, they performed it superbly.
The mass includes the following movements:
- Kyrie (featuring Bryn Hedlund ’12) (Lord have mercy)
- Gloria (featuring Elizabeth Shirazi ’12, Sam O’Brien ’12, and Hannah Rublaitus ’12) (Glory to God in the highest)
- Qui Tolis (featuring Justin Huang ’12, and Elizabeth Shirazi)
- Quoniam Tu Solus (featuring the same soloists as Gloria)
- Credo (I believe)
- Sanctus (Holy)
- Agnus Dei (Featuring Ruchira Laroia ’12, Soeun Kim ’12, Alex Spragle ’12, and Emerson Grow ’12) (Lamb of God)
- Dona Nobis Pacem
So may we present the Iowa City West Choirs performing Haydn’s “Nelson Mass.”
