SEA to hold Earth Day celebration
West High’s SEA will be holding an event to celebrate Earth Day with different eco-friendly activities.
The West SEA club is holding an Earth Day celebration April 22 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Chauncey Swan Park in Iowa City, Iowa with other environmental clubs in the district. There will be live music, food and different booths, such as hydroponics and water testing.
Along with going to the event, there are other actions you can take to be more environmentally friendly, especially this Earth Day.
“Making little changes like bringing reusable cups to coffee shops or reusable bags to the grocery store can go a long way in decreasing your carbon footprint,” SEA President Raina Pfeifer ’22 said. “If you want to go a step further there are a ton of resources online that explain how to compost at home which is a great way to treat food waste.”
Pfeifer also encourages others to get involved with the SEA and their efforts. Along with holding events, the SEA meets Fridays during AFT in Mrs. Wikner’s room.
“We talk about all things environment and would love to have more hands on deck with events and spreading awareness,” Pfeifer said.
