With summer workouts quickly approaching the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) released the 2021 football schedules for all seven of their classifications this morning. For the first time ever in football this year, there will be a Class 5A consisting of the state’s 36 biggest high schools based on enrollment. The teams were split into six groups and will play four group games, one assigned game and four non-group games. All 16 playoff qualifiers will be determined by a team’s Ratings Percentage Index (RPI). The Trojans’ group consists of Bettendorf, Pleasant Valley, Davenport Central, Davenport North and City High. With the new classifications, cross-town rival Liberty which falls into Class 4A, will not appear on the Trojans schedule as the second-ever matchup will wait for another year.
