West High’s boys track and field team’s outdoor season is in full swing. With the Drake Relays fast approach read below to see the team’s most recent results.

As the Drake Relays loom, the boy’s track team this week has had five events and many athletes qualify reaching blue standards in their events. Our current events going to Drake at the end of this month are; Moustafa Tiea ’24 in the 800-meter run, Aidan Jacobsen ’24 in both the 400-meter hurdles and long jump, Izaiah Loveless ’24 in the 100-meter dash, and distance medley relay. Both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400-meter relays currently rank high enough that their bid for Drake is very likely.
100-meter: Izaiah Lovelss was champion running 10.91 seconds, Daniel Robinson ’24 ran 11.55 placing seventh.
110-meter hurdles: Jesus Marungo-Murillo ’24 placed third running 16.05, while Quinn Abbott ’24 ran 16.46 placing seventh.
110-meter shuttle hurdle relay: placed second with a time of 1:044.93.
200-meter: Christian Janis placed fourth running 23.84, and Mason Woods ’25 placed sixth running 23.84.
400-meter: Carson Teghanemt ’23 ran 54.33 placing third, followed closely by teammate Mason Goering ’25 who placed fourth running 54.62.
400-meter hurdles: Aidan Jacobsen ’24 placed first and ran a drake relays blue standard with 53.51, Keith Moody ’24 ran 1:18.13.
800-meter: Mason Van Waning ’23 placed second running 2:06.36, while Sam Showers ’25 placed fourth with 2:08.40.
1600-meter: Moustafa Tiea ’25 was champion in the mile running 4:35.69, and Micheal Lee ’24 placed eighth running 4:56.52.
3200-meter: Andrew Polgreen ’25 placed fifth running 10:33.71, and Micheal Lee ’24 placed seventh running 10:40.95.
4×100-meter relay: placed tenth but reached the blue standard time running 26.91.
4×200-meter relay: The team were champions in the event running 1:30.03.
4×400-meter relay: West High took home first with the team running 3:26.12.
4×800-meter relay: The team was champions in the event running 1:30.03.
High Jump: Daniel Robinson ’24 placed fourth clearing 5’10 feet, and Mason Woods ’25 placed seventh jumping the height of 5’8 feet.
Long Jump: Aidan Jacobsen ’24 placed first and reached the blue standard jumping 22’9.25 feet, teammate Julian Manson ’26 placed fourteenth jumping 18’2.25 feet.
100-meter: Todd Rent ’24 was champion in a time of 11.11 seconds. Christian Janis ’23 placed fifth in 11.57.
110-meter hurdles: Jesus Marungo-Murillo ’24 and Quinn Abbott ’24 placed second and third, running times of 16.22 and 17.87 respectively.
110-meter shuttle hurdle: West’s team of Todd Rent ’24, Izaiah Loveless ’24, Christian Janis ’23, and Moustafa Tiea ’25 placed first running 1:34.05.
200-meter: Izaiah Loveless ’24 placed first in a time of 21.69 seconds, while Harel Gameti ’26 placed sixith in 23.91.
400-meter: In second was Carson Teghanemt ’23 running 53.73, fourth was Briec Wahe ’25 is 54.51.
800-meter: Sam Showers ’25 placed second, while Mason Van Waning ’23 placed fifth, running times of 2:02.49 and 2:09.19 respectively.
3200-meter: Andrew Polgreen ’23 was champion of this event, completing the two mile run in 10:33.85.
4×100-meter relay: West ran a time of 43.41 placing first with the team of Todd Rent ’24, Izaiah Loveless ’24, Christian Janis ’23 and Daniel Robinson ’24.
4×400-meter relay: The team of Aidan Jacobsen ’24, Julian Manson ’26, Moustafa Tiea ’25 and Mason Van Waning ’23 ran a time of 3:30.06, placing first.
Sprint Medley Relay: West took home first running 1:34.05 with the team of Todd Rent ’24, Izaiah Loveless ’24, Christian Janis ’23, Moustafa Tiea ’25.
Distance Medley Relay: West’s team of Todd Rent ’24, Izaiah Loveless ’24, Aidan Jacobsen ’24 and Moustafa Tiea ’25 ran a time of 3:33.84, placing first.
Discus: Colin Whitters ’24 placed fifth with a throw of 135’5.75 feet.
Long Jump: Julian Manson ’26 placed sixth with a jump of 18’10 ft.
High Jump: Daniel Robinson ’24 jumped the height of 5’8 feet placing sixth.
