Fall Leadership Conference 2023

65 West Business Professionals of America (BPA) members traveled to Urbandale, Iowa Oct. 15-16 for the 2023 Fall Leadership Conference (FLC). The conference featured keynote speaker Kathy Bresnahan, mini-sessions on business topics and a beloved conference tradition: game night. Over twenty schools attended from all across Iowa for the annual event.

Bresnahan helped kick off the conference with an inspirational speech about West alum Caroline Found and her legacy within West’s volleyball team. Students then chose different mini-sessions to attend, including “dress for success,” which covered appropriate business attire and “owing it to others,” where they learned how to write thank you letters. Lisbon High School claimed the game night trophy after a win in musical chairs.

What is FLC?

The Fall Leadership Conference is a special annual event for BPA members at the start of competition season. It is an opportunity for students from different chapters in Iowa to network and make special connections in time for the state competition. FLC is marked by game night, guest speaker sessions and a fundraiser for Special Olympics, dubbed “Miracle Minute,” where members are invited to bring their change to donate. They raised $406 for the cause this year.
