What’s new with the West High Cheer team

Now that football season is over, the cheer team has been busy competing and preparing for the upcoming basketball and wrestling season.

Triton Challenge, Oct. 29

On October 29th the cheer team attended the annual Triton Cheer Challenge competition hosted by Iowa Central College. West competed a Stunt Group routine, placing 7th overall and a Timeout routine that placed 4th overall. 

 

Iowa Cheerleading State Championship, Nov. 4

The team competed the both their Stunt Group routine and Timeout routine again  at the State Championships, placing 9th in the 4A Stunt Group division and 5th in the 4A Timeout Spirit division.

 

Upcoming events

The team will compete again Dec. 10 in Waukesha, Wisconsin, for their regional competition, requiring 5th place to qualify for Cheerleading Nationals in Feb. 2024. Updates and videos of their competition routines can be found on the team’s Instagram page @icwestcheerleading. “This team is extremely determined and motivated to prove themselves,” says head coach Morgan Dibert  “We have a hard competition season ahead, but I am confident that this group of athletes will be able to accomplish anything they set their minds to”
