The Problem With Artificial Intelligence in School

How AI is hurting students at school, and how it affects eduaction.

Artificial Intelligence. Is it jeopardizing schools or is it helping? Students use AI to guide and assist them through the hectic life of school, but is it really worth it? Asking an Artificial Intelligence to write you a paragraph for English, making an AI give you an answer to a math equation… It can be helpful, but it has cons as well.

Throughout the years, AI has grown increasingly advanced. People use AI for almost anything. For information, tips, help, etc. But, teenagers have been using it for school and education as well. When things get hard, the safer choice is to ask a teacher or a peer for help. Asking an AI isn’t good for you, or your grade. You could risk failing the assignment, or the class overall.

If any student who wanted to go to college was caught with plagiarism in their transcript, it could have major repercussions. Plagiarizing in college could end up with an expulsion from that class. You may have an essay due in four hours that you haven’t even started, but getting a zero on one project is better than seeing plagiarism in your record when you apply to a college, soiling your future.

I feel like educators and school districts should try more to make sure that students do their own work and get their points using the traditional way, instead of depending on technology.

Another reason why people shouldn’t use AI is that it entirely defeats the purpose of teachers, and being taught by them. Using AI for assignments just shows that you don’t even understand the project, if you haven’t listened to your teachers, and depended on AI to help you with the work. It shows that you haven’t put any effort into your work, and that isn’t good for anybody’s future.
