West High’s Good Time Company and ShowTime show choirs performed Dec. 18 at Hancher Auditorium for the annual Winter Swing Show. The theme for GTC’s performance was Homecoming, and comprised of songs such as “Don’t Stop the Music” and “The Distance We Have Come.” ShowTime’s theme was “Home Grown,” and included songs like “Kings and Queens,” and “Top of the World.”
“It was a really fun experience and really united everyone,” said GTC member Emma Lai ’28.
Soloists performed before and after the show choirs and featured Lovella Varner ’27, Eva Ortega Lopez ’26, Eli Asper ’25, Claire Lawler ’25, Maile Kruse ’25, Anna Rippentrop ’28, Ayla Bleil ’28, Maya Hanna ’25, Rana Saba ’25, Mary Danielle Gross ’25, Tia Rahmatalla ’25, Addison Cribbs ’25, Ian Kraske ’25, Allison Reed ’25, Shefali Huynh ’25 and Emily Hagiwara ’25.
Show band member Harper Ray ’27 enjoyed seeing the soloists perform.
“I find it really fun to watch all the individual acts and watch how so many of the choir kids are performing because they are singing and playing instruments at the same time.”
The two West High show choirs will perform again on Jan. 8 alongside Liberty and City show choirs for Choirs for a Cause. They will perform at Liberty High and fundraise for The Dragonfly Transplant Fund, an organization dedicated to raising awareness for organ and tissue donors and aiding transplant patients and their families.
