Arganbright Auditorium was packed full on Sunday for West High’s show choirs’ annual Spring Swing Show. It was the 50th anniversary of the Good Time Company, West’s varsity show choir, and to celebrate, directors Dr. David Haas and Luigi Enriquez welcomed back alumni from the past five decades to perform on stage once again.
West’s acapella group, Vox Novus, kicked off the show by performing “Hold Back the River” by James Bay.

Northwest’s show choir, In Time, also performed at the beginning of the concert. Their set consisted of two songs: “Let it Be,” by the Beatles and arranged by Roger Emerson, and “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen and arranged by Mark Brymer.
West High’s Junior Varsity show choir, Showtime, performed four numbers: “Love Don’t Let Me Go/One Love” by David Guetta, “Kings and Queens” by Ava Max, “Remember Me” by Chris Mann and “Top of the World (from Lyle Lyle Crocodile)” by Shawn Mendez.
Multiple students from Northwest Middle School and West High got the opportunity to perform solos or numbers with a small group of their peers.
At the 2 p.m. show, alumni from the past five decades of GTC history performed songs from all of said decades. The group, nicknamed The Greatest of All Time, or The GOAT, performed six numbers: “Applause” arranged by Larry Kelly et al, “Le Jazz Hot” arranged by Kelly as well, “Everybody Has a Dream/Bridge Over Troubled Water” arranged by Kirby Shaw and Kelly, “In a Hurry/Running Just to Catch Myself” arranged by Steve Shanley and “Friends Medley” by Kevin Duggan.
The choir was directed by Renee Zukin and Ama Mothershed, with the assistance of Enriquez, Leah Reitz and Jacob Held. “It was a lot of fun and a lot of work and the best part was being on stage with a bunch of really cool people bringing the story of GTC’s evolution to life,” Zukin, who graduated in 1994, said.
The main event of the night was GTC’s performance. Their show this year was titled “Homecoming” and was modeled after the classic experience of attending an American high school homecoming game and dance. The show opens with a performance of “West High Alma Mater” combined with “Coming Home” by Sheppard. Next is an upbeat number titled “Sports Medley,” arranged by Tyler Buglewicz depicting a high school football game. For a change of pace, their third song is slower, titled “The Distance You Have Come,” arranged by Anita Cracauer. The pace picks back up again for “I Wanna Dance with Somebody/Sadie Hawkins Dance” arranged by Kevin Dugan and Pete Eklund; GTC members act out getting ready for the homecoming dance. Their performance was wrapped up with “Pary Medley” by Duggan.
The performance marked the end of the show choir season. At the end of the 5 p.m. show, seniors were recognized with a slideshow showcasing their plans for the future post-graduation and received a music honor cord to wear at graduation from the directors.
