West High jazz bands competed in the Southeast Iowa Bandmasters Association (SEIBA) Jazz Festival on March 4 at Davenport Central High School. The West High Jazz Ensemble won first place in the 4A category, and the Symphonic Jazz Band won second place in the second band category. Jazz Ensemble member JD Denninger ’23 won best soloist in the 4A category.

Because of their placement at the SEIBA Jazz Festival, the West High Jazz Ensemble now qualifies to compete at the Iowa Jazz Championships on April 4. The Jazz Ensemble will also perform at the Paramount Theatre for the Corridor Jazz Project Concert on March 7.
