Being both the final home game of their season and senior night, the Trojans were determined to secure a win against Cedar Rapids Kennedy Sept. 26. Before the game, West recognized seven seniors: Jocelyn Jacobsen, Melae’ Lacy, Anneke Nielson, Maddie Otis, Lucy Schmid and Emma Stammeyer for their contributions to the Trojan team.

In a back and forth game, the Trojans pulled ahead of the Kennedy Cougars with a 3-2 win. West won the first set 25-12, but then lost the second set 19-25. The Trojans stayed ahead in the third set, winning 25-17. The Cougars were able to stay in the game with a 26-24 win in the fourth set, but West pulled through in the final set with a close win 16-14.

The Trojans will go up against the City High Little Hawks in the Battle of the Spike Oct. 3 at City High School.
