West Mathleague season kickoff Nov. 12

Another math competition season begins with the AMC test and Mathleague state qualifiers.

Another math competition season begins with the AMC test on Nov. 8th and Mathleague state qualifiers.

West hosted the second qualifier out of six on Nov. 11th. These will lead up to a state competition held in April, culminating in a National competition in May. West took first place among the four schools that participated, and eight members advanced to the state level. This is a promising start to the year, given West’s success last year, taking first at Mathleague Nationals.

Junior High:

10th grade:

1st – Edward Li ’26

2nd  – Catherine Xu ’26

3rd – Carter Houchins-Witt ’26

11th grade:

1st – Kai Merrill ’25

3rd – Waylon Houchins-Witt ’25

12th grade:

1st – Cade Benson ’24

2nd – Athena Wu ’24
