West High’s senior class better be looking over their shoulders this week as the school’s annual senior assassin game begins on Tuesday, April 22.
For those unfamiliar, senior assassin is a classic high school tradition in America organized by the senior class as one of the few last hurrahs of their high school career. The game itself varies from high school to high school but the basic premise remains the same: a survival game where the aim is to be the last one standing. With the promise of a cash prize pooled together by all senior participants, the competition will be fierce. Every senior has a target on their back and a chance for victory.
In the upcoming weeks, expect to notice seniors attending school wearing all kinds of miscellaneous items for the sake of “immunity” and stalking the hallways holding spoons, which is how targets are to be eliminated on school grounds. Outside of school, however, is taken to another extreme where instead of spoons, water guns are the required choice of weapon. And the only shields allowed for protection are of the human persuasion.
Those who’d like to keep up to date with the game can check out the West High senior class of 2024’s Instagram account: @icseniorwestassassin.
To all seniors, may the odds be ever in your favor. Also, water guns can be bought at the Dollar Tree for, wait for it, $1.
