Fifty-seven students traveled to Des Moines, Iowa Feb. 18-20 to compete in the annual Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Leadership Conference (SLC). There, West’s tradition of excellence and professionalism shined, with 43 students qualifying for the National Leadership Conference held in Chicago, Illinois May 10-14. This set a new school record for qualifiers. In Chicago, students will have the chance to “seize the opportunity,” this year’s official Nationals theme, and compete with the hopes of placing amongst competitors from across the country and globe

Chapter members had a busy weekend beyond just competing. On Sunday, students attended a mentalist show performed by Brian Imbus, had a heated game night on Monday and spent Tuesday voting for state executive board officers.

Two West BPA members were elected into state office. Jack Twait ’25 was instated as vice president of marketing, running on the campaign slogan of “With Twait, there is no wait,” and Junze Sun ’25 was elected into office with “Careers and Connections.”
